"Sub-Clubs"

The Cougar Club expands its membership to incorporate team sports and complimentary groups of sports team subsidiary clubs.  The objective is to broaden the outreach of our collective efforts without sacrificing the integrity of the general club.  This method strengthens the individual commitment to the sport and the ability to coordinate and implement fundraising projects and meetings.  An important objective of the recommendation is to improve support for junior varsity and eighth grade athletics.  A critical element of this structure is maintaining close ties to the general club and its structure.

Operational guidelines for sub-clubs:

1.     All members of Sub-Clubs are required to obtain membership in the Cougar Club.

2.     Each Sub-Club is required to have one officer in attendance at each Cougar Club Meeting.

3.     Each Sub-Club must present fundraising ideas in writing for approval to the Cougar Club Executive Board two-weeks prior to the general meeting for placement on the agenda and general approval.

a.     The purpose of this is to guard against competing interests and projects.

4.     Sub-Club proceeds will be deposited into the general club account with separate ledgers for each established Sub-Club.  These funds are accessible to and are to be used as the respective club and coach chooses without interference from the general club.

5.     Proceeds from all Sub-Club fundraisers shall be split according to an 80/20 principle; 80% of all proceeds are retained by the Sub-Club while 20% is contributed to the general fund of the Cougar Club.

a.     The purpose of this is to retain balance between individual interests and overall goals and objectives.  For example, the club is relinquishing many of its smaller fundraisers so that Sub-Clubs have those opportunities, yet broader general club expenditures such as Activity Buses and sound systems represent benefit to many aspects of athletics.  Therefore, in order to serve broad-based objectives, each group should contribute a portion of revenues to the general fund.

6.     Sub-Clubs operate at the discretion of the Cougar Club and under the authority of Patrick County Public Schools and shall operate under the bylaws and established practices and customs of the Cougar Club.

Football and Baseball Sub-Clubs are already being formed.
